Textile Cross: Lady Katherine Leveson Primary School
This cross was commissioned by the Foundation of Lady Katherine Leveson, Temple Balsall for the new school hall. The cross shape represents the school, church and Court that make up the old Templar foundation that has been caring for its community since the 1300s. It portrays life in the community as it is today. The "living" part of the cross is created from a collage of fabrics and stitch. The area surrounding the cross depicts scenes from the church architecture and its past, coloured by the distinctive pink/brown of its stonework. The scenes are created using mixed media techniques incorporating fabrics, paper, stitch and paint.
